BURNS, Marion D.

Marion D. Burns, 92, of Bristol, widow of John M. Burns, passed away Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, at home. She was born Aug. 1, 1916, in Middletown, daughter of the late James and Delia (Riley) Dunn. A Bristol resident most of her life, Marion was a teacher in Glastonbury and also St. Joseph Catholic School and South Side Elementary School in Bristol until her retirement in 1982. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, the Bristol Retired Teachers Association and the Connecticut Retired Teachers Association. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Larson and her husband, Douglas, of Bristol; her two grandsons, John Larson and his wife, Ann, of Boston, Mass. and Michael Larson of Bristol; her loving niece, Patricia Maher of Bristol; her extraordinary friend, Mary Provenzano of Bristol; her good friend, Stella DePalma of Bristol; and several other nieces and nephews. A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in Bristol. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Church, 149 Goodwin St., Bristol, CT 06010.
