DUVAL, George

George Duval, 65, of Plainville passed away surrounded by his family Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008. He was the beloved husband of Lucille (Viel) Duval, with whom he shared 43 years of love and devotion. He was born in Fort Kent, Maine, April 8, 1943, the son of Odilon and Cecile (Bouchard) Duval. A resident of Plainville for over 30 years, he was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Church. George was employed by the City of Bristol Department of Public Works, retiring in 1998 after 30 years of dedicated service. He filled his retirement years travelling with his wife throughout the United States, and taking countless camping trips with his family. He had a love for the outdoors, just being able to enjoy the beauty of nature surrounding him, and made Vermont a favorite destination of his, looking forward to its annual maple festival. A life spent helping others, George’s selfless ways remain an inspiration to his family and friends, who will all miss him dearly. In addition to his wife, Lucille, he leaves his children, Jimmy Duval and his wife, Dana, of Plainville, Daniel Duval Sr. of Bristol and Kathy Fraser of Plainville. He was affectionately known as Pépère to his five grandchildren, Jeremy Duval, Katie Fraser, Jonathon Charette, Daniel Duval Jr. and Joshua Duval. In addition, he leaves his brother, Ronald Michaud of Bristol; his sister, Mavis Pelletier of Bristol; his dear friend, Ronaldo Harvey, whom he considered a brother; and several nieces and nephews, and many friends. He was predeceased by his half brother, Valdor Bouchard. Funeral services will be held Saturday, at 9 a.m., from Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St., Plainville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may gather on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
