WINSLOW, Everett A.

Everett A. Winslow, 81, husband of Claire (Scalia) Winslow of Bristol, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, at home. He was born Sept. 27, 1927. in New Haven and was a son of the late George and Edna (Hitchcock) Winslow. He was employed at the former New Departure in Bristol before his retirement. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church. Everett was a Franciscan and a recipient of the St. Joseph Medal. Everett volunteered for over 35 years in the Bristol Community picking up and delivering food to area soup kitchens and individuals. He was recognized for his charity and volunteerism to the community with several humanitarian awards. Everett volunteered at several soup kitchens through the years including The Salvation Army, St. Joseph Church Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry, Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, St. Vincent DePaul, House of Bread, Recovery Club and many others. Besides his wife, he leaves three brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Charlotte Winslow of Northfield, Albert and Marge Winslow of Grass Valley, Calif. and Paul and Linda Winslow of Freemont, Calif.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Ann and George Malley and Faith Herring, all of Terryville; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Olive Long and Bernice Warner. The funeral will be held Tuesday, 9 a.m. from DuPont Funeral Home, 25 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Bristol. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Calling hours will be held Monday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
