ZETTERGREN, Jack Erbe

Jack Erbe Zettergren, 70, of Old Lyme passed away after a brief illness, Monday, Nov. 3, 2008. Jack was born Oct. 28, 1938, in Plainville to the late Charles O. and Ruth (Erbe) Zettergren. He graduated from Plainville High School in 1956 and moved to New Britain in 1961. He was the owner/operator of Sherwood Roofing and Renovating Co., Inc., which specialized in many religious restoration projects throughout the last 40-plus years in the New England and Albany, N.Y. areas. He was proud to work the company business with his oldest son, John until last week and took pride that all of his children had worked within his company at some point. He was an avid Red Sox, football and NASCAR race fan, and will be missed frequenting Cherrystones and The Hideaway in Old Lyme and Stella Maris on Long Island, Bahamas. Jack leaves his four children, John and Christine (Roberts) Zettergren of New Britain, Craig and Kathleen (Kelley) Zettergren of Wallingford, Greta and Paul Morgan of Stow, Mass. and Kevin and Jennifer (Croteau) Zettergren of Durham; 10 grandchildren, Tim, Brandon, Jessica, Julia, Maya, Aidan, Willow, Bailey, Maura and Brenna; two sisters, Joan Coburn of Bristol and Jill Schaffrick of Avon; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters, Jean Goodreau, Charles (Zeke) Zettergren, Alan Zettergren and Ruth Neils. Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St., Plainville. Family and friends are invited to gather from 9 to 11 a.m. before the service. Burial will follow immediately after the service at West Cemetery, Plainville.
