Carol (Faraci) Zigrino, 86, of Pokorny Road, Higganum, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passes away peacefully Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at Middlesex Hospital.
She was born Nov. 2, 1922, in Middletown, daughter of the late Louis and Amelia (Romano) Faraci.
Before her retirement, she was the owner/administrator of East Ridge Manor, a residential care facility in Meriden, for the past 36 years. She was also the first female bus driver in the City of Middletown.
Carol is survived by her eldest daughter, Doreen Z. Conroy of Higganum; son-in-law, Lawrence F. Shackett of Higganum; her five grandchildren, Timothy and Gabriela Conroy Jr. of Higganum, Paul Conroy of New York and Jason and Eileen Conroy of Higganum; and Jeffrey Shackett and Allison LaChase of Higganum; Christopher and Melanie Shackett of Massachusetts. Her four great-grandchildren, Caroline, Olivia and Timothy Conroy III of Higganum and Amelia Grace Shackett of Massachusetts; three sisters; four brothers; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Amelia Shackett, and son-in-law, Timothy C. Conroy Sr.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, followed by an 11 a.m. funeral liturgy at St. Peter Church, Higganum. Burial will be in St. Sebastian Cemetery, Middlefield. Friends may call at Biega Funeral Home on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carol’s memory to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
