TRAVERSO, Adela R.

Adela R. Traverso, 96, of Bristol, widow of Miguel Traverso Sr., passed away Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at the Subacute Center of Bristol.

She was born Dec. 23, 1911, in Aguada, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Manuel and Julia (Perez) Rosa. A resident of Bristol since 1954, she was a member of St. Matthew Church. Adela and her husband, Miguel, were the owners of the former Bristol Diner in the 1950s. The family would like to thank the staff at the Subacute Center of Bristol for all the care given to Adela during her stay.

She is survived by her children, Adela Soto and her husband Rene of Bristol, Carmen Morales and her husband Sergio of Meriden, Virginia Quirk and her husband Ronald of Bristol and Michael Traverso Jr. and his wife Judy of Marlborough; two brothers; two sisters; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by nine brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, at 10 a.m. from the O’Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Forestville, to St. Matthew Church, Forestville, for a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Matthew Church, 90 Church Ave., Forestville, CT 06010.
