METAYER, Fred N.

Fred N. Metayer, 87, of Bristol, widower of Elaine (Devoti) Metayer, died on Saturday (November 15, 2008) at Brittany Farms Health Care in New Britain. Fred was born in Lewiston, ME on March 25, 1921 and was a son of the late Francois and Marie Louise (Rioux) Metayer. A lifelong Bristol resident, he worked for and retired from the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran of World War II where he served as a radio operator in the Pacific Theater. He was a life member of the Bristol Elk’s Lodge #1010 and the American Legion Seicheprey Post #2, and was a member of St. Gregory Church, Bristol. Fred leaves a son and daughter in law, Robert and Lisa Metayer of Bristol, and two granddaughters, Stephanie and Kaleigh Metayer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday (November 22, 2008) at 10 AM at St. Gregory Church. Burial, with military honors, will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Veterans Relief Foundation, 2521 North Grand, Suite D, Santa Ana, CA 92705.
