CIFALDI, Peter J.

Peter J. Cifaldi, 78, of Farmington, beloved husband of Rita M. (Unwin) Cifaldi, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at John Dempsey Hospital, Farmington. Peter was born in Unionville on Nov. 7, 1930, and was a son of the late Chris and Lilly (Torchi) Cifaldi. He resided in Farmington most of his life and was a U.S. Army combat veteran of the Korean War, where he received with honor, the Bronze Star. Before retiring in 1997, he was a regional sales manager for Sorrento Cheese Co., Buffalo, N.Y. and he previously worked at A&P Supermarkets for 25 years. He was a member of St. Gregory Church, Bristol, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Avon, Farmington Senior Center, where he volunteered with his wife, and he volunteered for Food Share Social Services and the Farmington Meals on Wheels. His hobbies, which he enjoyed, were traveling, woodworking, cooking and working in his beautiful yard. In addition to his beloved wife, Peter is survived by two loving daughters, Christine Skutt of Torrington and Eileen Stevens and her husband, Michael, of Southington; a twin brother, Paul Cifaldi of Naples, Fla.; a sister, Hilda Russell of Unionville; a granddaughter, Harmony Hadlock and her husband, Michael; a great granddaughter, Abigail Hadlock; several nieces and nephews; and his dog Holly, his constant companion. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, 11 a.m. at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
