CHARPENTIER, Melvin "Mel" Raymond

Melvin "Mel" Raymond Charpentier, 78, of Bristol, passed away early Saturday morning after a long illness with cancer. The beloved husband of Josephine (DeSorbo) Charpentier. He was born in New Bedford MA. to the late Raymond Charpentier and Laura (LeBlanc) Charpentier. After he attended Bristol schools he served in the National Guard and U.S. Army as an Air Born Ranger. He was a long time employee of General Electric in Plainville where he worked as a supervisor in the DAD Department. During his retirement he worked for Quest but mainly enjoyed spending time in his wood working shop. Besides his wife he leaves his children Micque and Michael Feldman, James Charpentier of Fl., Cheryl and Salvatore Denote and Michael Charpentier of Bristol. His Stepsons, David Hamm, Michael and Karen Hamm, Jeffrey Hamm all of Bristol, and a Grandson Robert Hamm, his sister Alma Charpentier and sister-in-law Delores Charpentier as well as many nieces and nephews and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister Luva Bokun of Bristol and his brothers Larry and Frederick Charpentier. There will be a Memorial service at St. Anthony's Church, School St., Bristol Monday, December 1 at 10 a.m.
