Maria Ortiz, 82, of Andrew House Healthcare in New Britain, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, (November 8, 2008) after a long illness. Born in Cayey, Puerto Rico to the late Antonio Ortiz and Candelaria Rivera, she lived in New Britain for the last 22 years. Maria is survived by two loving children: Annie Sanchez Pacyna and her husband Jim from Bristol and Andres A. Sanchez Ortiz and his wife Gloria from Puerto Rico, five cherished grandchildren: Michael, Katie, Mary, Armando and Brenda, six great grandchildren, eight sisters, two brothers; and many nieces and nephews. Maria is predeceased by her husband Andres Sanchez. Funeral and Burial Services were in Puerto Rico. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass to celebrate her life on Sunday, November 30, at St. Rose Church in East Hartford at 12 Noon. Memorial contributions may be made to HACC (Hispanic American Cultural Council) Scholarship Fund, PO Box 25, New Britain, CT 06050 or Andrew House Recreational Department, 66 Clinic Dr. New Britain. CT 06052. Maria's family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the wonderful staff at Andrew House, which was her dear and loving extended family for their loving care and friendship.
