CAMP, Frank

Frank Camp, 91, of Plainville, passed away surrounded by his family Friday, Nov. 21, 2008. He is now reunited after 30 years with his beloved wife, Clara (Morante) Camp.

Frank was born in New Britain on Dec. 4, 1916, one of three sons to the late John and Catherine (Manno) Camp. He was a graduate of New Britain High School, where he lettered in track. In 1940, he married Clara, and made their home in Plainville in 1944 where they raised their family. Frank was employed at Marlin-Rockwell Corp. as an engineer for 36 years, retiring in 1974, while also working part time as a local barber in New Britain and Plainville. Frank was active in his community as a former assistant prosecutor for the town, a member of the Knights of Columbus Francis J. Finn Council and through his involvement with the Athletic Backers Club. In addition, he was instrumental in developing the PTO at Linden Street School. He could be found many days playing bingo at the senior center, where he leaves many dear friends. One of his great passions was politics, a subject for which he held great knowledge. A former member of the Plainville Democratic Town Committee, he ran for office in the early ’50s always wanting to make a difference to his town. Frank lived his life to the fullest, and he will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.
