Howard R. Dear Jr., 58, of Bristol died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at Amberwood of Farmington. Howard was born March 6, 1950, in Waterbury. He was the son of the late Howard Dear Sr. and Georgia (Roskosky) Rose. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam. Before his illness he was a manager of Pet Supplies Plus of Bristol. Howard is survived by his stepfather, Angelo “Pop” Rose of Plymouth; his son, Howard Dear III of Ohio; his brother, Frank Rose and his wife, Kristi, of Terryville; his two sisters, Toni Puzzo and her husband, Thomas, of Waterbury and Rae Ann Etting and her husband, Jefferson, of Plymouth; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, 10 a.m. at Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St., Terryville. Burial with military honors will be at the State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown at a later date. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday morning one hour before the service.
