THERIAULT, Raymond J.

Raymond J. Theriault Sr., 92, of Terryville passed away Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008. He was the husband of the late Josephine (Dade) Theriault and was also predeceased by his first wife Marion (Lamarre) Theriault. Ray was born in Wallagrass, Maine, Sept. 27, 1916, to the late Ulysses Theriault and Caroline (Marin) Theriault. He came to Connecticut in 1941, made his home in Plainville and began his career at Fafnir Bearing in New Britain from where he retired in 1973. He was also employed at Johnny’s Service Station in Plainville for many, many years as a mechanic. He leaves behind his loving children, Rinthya Vargo and her husband, Steve, of Bethel, Vt., Raymond Theriault Jr. and his wife, Smidge, of Southington, Derald Theriault and his wife, Wendy, of Southington, Wendall Theriault and his wife, Mary Jane, of Bristol, Debra Theriault and her husband, Jack Aaron, of Jacksonville, Vt. and Michael Theriault; a daughter-in-law, Roxanne Cyr of Maryville, Tenn.; and a son-in-law, Bruce Beh and his wife, Laurel, of Hobie Sound Fla. He was predeceased by a daughter, Rowena Beh. “Grampy” will be deeply missed by his 12 grandchildren, Stacy, Alan, and Amanda Theriault, Lisa Murawski, Tony and Gerry Vargo, Amy Clarke, Alison Swain, Michele Hart, Jenifer, Brock and Aaron Beh; along with his great-grandchildren, Devin, Morgan, Aiyanna, Wyatt and Lars Vargo, Ty and Aleah Murawski, Marissa and Michael Theriault, Andie Caswell, Cole and Grace Zommer, Zan, Ian, Lucas, Logan and Regan and Riley Raymond Beh. He also leaves behind several brothers and sisters, Guy Theriault of Claire, New Brunswick, Canada, Euclide and Rella Theriault of Wallagrass, Maine, Lucien and Marie Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine, Danford and Theresa Theriault of Southington, Bernice and Edward Desjardin of Fort Kent, Maine, Loraine Wilson of Calais, Maine and Leonette Pelletier of Soldier Pond, Maine. He was predeceased by his brother, Claude Theriault; and his sisters, Bertha Jacques and Bernadine Poole. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Ray enjoyed traveling, especially the driving part and spending time at his home on Fall Mountain Lake, cutting and splitting wood for his stove and watching the Celtics, UConn and the Yankees games. He never missed a Theriault family reunion or a chance to spend time with his family and friends. Ray and his wife Jo were very active in the Fafnir Retirees organization, serving as officers and volunteering at events. He was a talented, self-taught mechanic who enjoyed helping anyone and everyone that needed his assistance. He will be dearly missed by all who were lucky enough to have known him. His family wishes to express their extreme gratitude to the staff at the Farmington Care Center for the amazing care they provided for him over this past year. Also, thank you to the caring staff at Bristol Hospital for their comfort and support during his last days with us. Calling hours will be held Sunday, from 1 to 4 p.m., with a funeral service at the conclusion of the visitation at 4 p.m., at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St., Plainville.
