SUNDGREN, Catherine "Katie" B.

Catherine “Katie” B. Sundgren, 86, of Forestville, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008. Katie was born on April 3, 1922, in Forestville, a daughter of the late Joseph and Barbara (Walco) Sirko. Katie was a lifelong Forestville resident and a lifetime volunteer at St. Mathew Church having been awarded the St. Joseph Medallion in 2003 by Archbishop Cronin for her service to St. Matthew Church. She is survived by her two daughters, Barbara and her husband, John Letizia, of Bristol, Susan and her husband, John, Twombly of Burlington; her two sons, Robert and his wife, Wanda Sundgren, of West Hartford and Richard Sundgren of Bristol. Katie leaves 10 grandchildren including Theresa and husband, Darrell Darby, Rachel Letizia, Alison Letizia, Jacquelyn and her husband, Keith Furniss, Jake and his wife, Allyson Twombly, Robert and his wife, Amy Twombly, Richard and his wife, Ann-Marie Sundgren, Rebecca and her husband, Gene Swanson, Shelby and her husband Sloan Baxter and Betsy Sundgren. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Robert Sundgren in August 2000. She also leaves her sister, Ann Duntz of Plainville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Matthew Church, Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Calling hours will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., Tuesday at O’Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Forestville.
